The first bit of studio gear I bought was a Tristar light stand that extends to about 4m in height. I thought it was so cool. I still have that stand, but I have added about a dozen others in the 20 or so years since I bought the Tristar.

While scanning through the Flickr Photo public bank, a sudden reflexion strikes me about the futility of presenting a massive number of pictures compare to be more selective and choosing the few ones that can generate more impact, questioning and inspiration.

Of course, everyone knows the usual consensus that defines the "normal" focal length of any picture format by its diagonal of its recording plane-surface. The best known can be referred in the old 35mm film format ( 24 X 36mm) as the 50mm lens although the result of the real calculation in this particular format should have been around a focal length of 43mm.

If I take a long hard look at the photography I do for money, it becomes apparent that I am quite content to pick the low hanging fruit as far as jobs go, foregoing any interest in the type of big money work that most commercial photographers strive towards.

Presently I live about 500 miles west of Anchorage, Alaska.  I am a night person.  Which means I am NOT a morning person. But at this time of year, and this far north, I get the joy of watching a sunrise after 10 AM. And a sunset BEFORE 5 PM.
