    Peekaboo Mallard

This mallard drake was landing on the ice this morning. I have always liked the peekaboo type pose, but getting the wings just right and still allowing the head/eye to show can be a bit of a challenge D4 600VR f/5.6 1/2000s ISO 800 Advice and comments always appreciated. Please view large Cheers Randy

    Bullet holes in the ice

These weird patterns showed in the ice at Barbour's Pond, on top of Garret Mountain (for those unfamiliar with the area; that's about 1km west of Paterson, a city that is working hard to surpass Detroit and Camden as a major crime city in the USA) But.. the "holes" are about 30cm each and about 3-5m (10-15ft for the metrically impaired) apart... not really bullet holes. I suppose thawing and subsequent freezing caused this.
