I just finished with my trip to the Skagit River Valley in northern Washington State. I came for the eagles and they did not disappoint! The Skagit River as with a few others have now plenty of dead Salmon, having died after spawning. So it is like a buffet for them. These are just a few. All taken with the Nikon D500 and Nikon 500 f/4E, FL, ED, VR lens, and all taken from a boat which made for a challenging shoot.
The eagle nests all over Florida are starting to get refurbished for the next generation, which gives us some nice photo ops! This particular nest close to me unfortunately gets mostly side light from the place one needs to gets shots, for it is on private property and you cannot cross the fence to get a better lighting situation. The lighting yesterday morning was off again clouds, sun, more clouds, etc, but seeing that the activity was quite high, I took the shots and made the best of the lighting, albeit not great. The one time I had them in the right light and such they came too close for my lens setup, oh well, close ups can be nice too . All these were taken with the Nikon D500 and Nikon 500 f/4E, FL, ED, VR lens with the Nikon 1.4E III TC.
They are quite the animated couple with lots of interactions between them. All taken with the Nikon D500 and Nikon 500 f/4E, FL, ED, VR lens. The first one was taken as I was just arriving, just at sunrise, one made a very low flyby.
Our Florida Bald Eagle Pairs are returning to their nests to start building for the next generation. I just returned from a visit to one of these nests and really was able to captured some nice action as the pair built back their nest from last year. This one is the first one I processed, and thought I would share. Captured with the Nikon D500 and Nikon 500 f/4E, FL, ED, VR lens.
