During the heat and humidity of our Florida summers we have a few subjects that still can get us out of bed early and sweat to capture. One of them are these Black-bellied Whistling Ducks. At a place called the Viera Wetlands, in Viera, Florida, there are quite a few pairs that start arriving in around May to breed and nest. These were taken with the Nikon D500 and Nikon 500 f/4E, FL,ED, VR lens, handheld. One family with 18 chicks was seen last week. Problem is they are lucky if two survive the gators or hawks.
