    Street performance Trottvoir

I haven't been able to find anything regarding the AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED in this forum. It very quickly has become my favorite lens. It is incredibly sharp even wide open! A picture from a street theater/cirkus called Trottvoir. From St. Gallen Switzerland sommer 2017. I made several pictures shooting with the 105mm f/1.4 wide open. 100% crop of the eye

    Reluctant Portrait Photography

True story, I am not a people or portrait photographer. I have never really savored the thought of taking photos of people. So, reluctantly I have started wading into this area from my normal arena of nature and aviation subjects. Well, not too far, as this was taken at the BIG airshow in Oshkosh, Wisconsin this past summer. I stepped outside of my comfort zone and gently worked my way into a pinup model shoot that was taking place in a public area with one of the P-51s and introduced myself (a big move for me) to Heather. I along with a friend spent the day with this lovely young lady ta

    Morning peek Male Leopard.jpg

    From the album: Leopards

This was a challenging shot to get and luckily enough the light was on my side the morning I took this, it was perfectly glinting off his eye and I managed to shoot this in the second that something further in the bushes caught his eye and he stopped perfectly framed by these branches granting me this light and dark contrasty image.. Shot with a Canon 7D mkii, Sigma 150 - 600mm C lense at 600mm, f6.3, ISO 1600, 1\1000

of her time ... My wife wanted me to attempt a portrait similar to a painting we saw while on vacation last december , finally we had some time at the beginning of feb and I finally got to process it She is not very patient with me taking pictures of her, so I need to be quick. 85mm f2.2 1 softbox to my right The shallow DOF helped me a lot with the skin processing , there is room for improvement in my lightning , in my direction of her, in the background, in the makeup, probably in my processing but at this time I do not know any further techniques. anyhow, it to

    One Light Portrait Series 1

Wanted to share a series of portraits that I did with off camera flash and my Nikon gear. All were taken with one AB400(1/4 power) and one white reflector, 1/125, f/6.3, ISO 200, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D. Lighting variations created by light to subject distance and placement. Enjoy!

    org chart shot

People at the office asked me to take a few photos from them Here is one image that I worked a bit more Ambient light Background is the building reflection on a window Added a B&W layer (value mode) on parts of her face to reduce annoying highlights Mind boggling how a 36 mp image will be reduced to a 120x120 pixels Perhaps my watermark will not be visible LOL

    Party girl

my youngest son held his birthday party today and invited his best friends. This is a portrait of a young girl (6 years old). She was very lively and funny all day, but for some reason she looked extremely serious (though not impressed at all) in front of my camera. I am very happy actually that she decided not to smile.

Hello All, I recently did a morning shoot for a start up designer that was looking for some fun portrait shots, as well as some more artistic architectural shots with her in them. Here is a brief example. My main question is do you feel that the "high-key" b&w is overdone? I intentionally lit her from a bright window, but used the histogram to ensure I didn't blow out the highlights. I know many people will feel this is overdone, but I feel justified since I still see the outline of her face against the back lighting. Also, do you feel the framing in the bridge shots is proper, or do you
  16. Following the just ended 1 year collective challenge (a success for me as it kept me shooting!), I have decided to continue but on a somewhat different basis. I have always liked to shoot portraits but find it often difficult to connect with the subject although I know that this is the determining factor, well before all technical points. Getting the person to relax, start to chat about something important to them, and finally catch the expression I am looking for... It works sometimes but I want to improve there. I also want to ask people I don't know (but find interesting) to stop for a min
