  1. Sorry - only partially correct and no substitute for being fitter. Avoidance is better. http://www.snopes.com/medical/homecure/coughcpr.asp
  2. How about Tá m'árthach foluaineach lán d'eascanna
  3. Using a prime lens for a challenge is a useful way to tune your artistic eye. Instead of taking the first shot that occurs to you, zooming from where you stand, you really need to think about shots, and you see different opportunities.
  4. There is something very satisfying about handwriting with a good ink pen. You get the same letters as you do when typing, but the message is different, more significant. And it isn't just you that feels different. The reader feels the message is more sincere, somehow.
  5. And do not wear headphones, either. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3406919/He-s-missing-action-Bungling-photographer-fails-spot-amorous-display-pair-rhinos.html?ito=social-facebook
  6. Not just funny but also tragic. After getting $200,000 of donations from a hospital with a bad track record for operations on children, the Republican Party in Florida lowered the standards required for infant heart surgery. http://arstechnica.com/science/2016/01/florida-ditches-surgical-standards-after-failing-hospital-donates-to-gop/
  7. Once you turn 50 Dallas, every couple of years thereafter. Female doctors are better - thinner fingers. Here is a useful explanation of the process by Billy Connelly.
  8. For point 2, a lot of very wealthy people get subsidies to grow things. The US should stop all subsidies for agriculture and import food from wherever it is cheapest.
  9. Wouldn't they be taking selfies, with their backs to the Titanic, so their faces and the ship were in shot?
  10. http://www.engadget.com/2015/05/28/this-telescope-is-really-just-10-canon-lenses-strapped-together/ 10 lenses plus some pretty good software, I think. What I found particularly interesting is that it cost just a fraction of the price of anything competitive.
  11. Here's another good use. http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/europe/68849534/woman-shoots-herself-in-the-head-while-trying-to-take-a-selfie
  12. NASA improves Curiosity rover's autofocus with a patch. http://www.engadget.com/2015/05/23/curiosity-rover-chemcam-patch/
  13. Missy Mwac on 18 May on Petapixel.com had some satirical suggestions for camera-makers, but one I liked and want to try to implement - an MP3 player built into the camera. I'll look at attaching one to an arca-swiss plate. The ability to check Facebook on the camera's screen might have to wait, but why not add a game of Candy Crush to help pass the time while you wait for a good shot?.
  14. Now Canon is having problems. http://www.engadget.com/2015/05/08/canon-t6s-t6i-defective-sensors/?utm_source=Feed_Classic_Full&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Engadget&?ncid=rss_full
  15. New Zealand 9th and Australia 10th. From the article : "People who live in the happiest countries have longer life expectancies and more social support, experience more generosity, have more freedom to make life choices, have lower perceptions of corruption and have a higher gross domestic product per capita"
