  1. Some good news. I managed to avoid laying of staff for the time being. Government Unemployment Fund made a contribution towards the salaries of those that could not work during lock down, and got an order for some radomes to keep us busy for another two months. Medium term does not look so positive at the moment though.
  2. I'm sitting here taking a break at formalizing the Lay-off/retrenchment of 50% of my staff, A big project lost to competition as everybody starts cutting prices to try stay alive, other clients cannot pay. Projections are that ZA have already lost 8% of GDP in the 60 days in Lock Down. And this in a country with more than 30% of people without jobs before the virus, and a lot of those with jobs are on weekly wages, one week into Lock Down and they are broke, no credit card, etc. I dont have the answers, but trying to use first world remedies in a third world country does not always makes sense, especially if the current government has been implicit in robbing the economy broke during the last twelve years, but then in a democracy the voting public has to take responsibility for their choices. All I know is Monday is not going to be nice having to look 12 people in the eye and tell them circumstances beyond control is taking there livelihood away.

    Photo vs Video

I'm pretty allergic to video, it's both time and resource consuming, and if it's not something that could only make an impact using the dynamics of video I'm not interested. My biggest peeve is to watch a video of someone blaring away because they are to lazy to do a proper write-up with a photo or two. But similarly there are situations where the dynamics of the situation will clearly favor video, like for instance the last lap of a well contested GP bike race to the line, a single or several photos sometimes cannot carry the adrenalin to the viewer as video would.

Thanks Mike, I think they are pretty much in the same league, although the jackal may be slightly bigger.

While having a sun downer after a game drive this Jackal came up to a few meters from us. Taken in the Welgevonden Reserve ZA.
  9. Spotted in Atlanta GA, my only comment? Taste differs
  10. Cool idea Dallas, I am looking forward to see what comes up.
  11. I just spent three days in NY, not my cup of tea but my wife loves it. Very expensive, and there is no saving in buying anything at B&H compared to our local prices, unlike a few years ago. Will try to post some images with time, have some work to catch up on first.
  12. You will also find the super rich like old Soros funding organisations to disarm the population, so they can keep control of the masses once they are in rags.
  13. It's the time of the year, saw this same enquiry on a different non-photographic forum yesterday.
