It is a hard call to make given the outstanding quality of some of the other Fujinon lenses, but this lens comes as close to a 10/10 as anything I've ever used. There really is nothing to complain about apart from maybe the (detachable) tripod foot & collar, which in common with every other manufacturer's lenses is too small for the task and which really needs its base to be the correct size with sloping shoulders to fit an Arca tripod head clamp, and maybe some wimps might also complain about its weight and size (which is simply a by-product of optical physics for an internally zooming and focussing f/2.8 WR lens covering these focal lengths).

Making allowance for those two things and their actual minimal importance in actually producing photographs in general, I'd still give the lens 9.5/10.

The label WR really earns its stripes, I've used it on my X-T1 in steady rain for an extended time with no effect on either the lens or camera on several occasions now, and the OIS is of such effectiveness that I've not yet had to put the outfit on a tripod, so the little foot is still in the tripod bag where I put it after taking it off in the first few minutes of owning the lens. I simply cannot recommend the lens strongly enough. Having owned the 55-200mm f/3.5-4.5 previously and as good as that was, I would strongly suggest spending the extra on this lens and a 1.4x TC instead. The 1.4x TC works well on the 100-400/4.5-5.6 as well, and will probably work on any future tele lens that Fuji designs, so its high initial cost will be mitigated somewhat overall.

The lens is also quiet and extremely fast in use, no doubt as a result of the new electro-magnetic focus motors. Image quality is also exceptional throughout the range, even with a 1.4x TC fitted.

Probably the best zoom lens I have used, regardless of Brand!!

The image quality from this lens is simply outstanding. It is incredibly sharp regardless of aperture, Weather Resistant, and the Image stabilisation is incredible. I have had pin sharp shots handheld at as low as 1/8 shooting at 140mm. Also, the focus is quick and accurate - the main reason why I replaced my 55-200 for the 50-140! It isn't that the 55-200 wasn't accurate, but it was slow!

I can't recommend this lens enough, especially if you are a wedding or portrait photographer. It also works well for sport, but I would recommend it is used in conjunction with the 1.4x Tele Converter.
