Desert flowers

I like the perspective of the first one.

Spring in the northern hemisphere, that means summer is coming to an end here in the southern hemisphere.

Don't know about you guys over in Oz, but here where I live summer was mostly absent this year. It has been quite weird, to be honest. I was wearing jeans in February, which is usually a sign of madness. We have had some uncomfortably warm days in the past few weeks, but for the most part the days have been much cooler than usual.

No complaints from me!

Crowecg, I'm trying to get creative with my technique: set to auto focus and + 1 f-stop, aimed down from about 1.5 feet at the flowers, pressed halfway on the shutter button to lock the focus and exposure, and then rotated camera around (like on a sphere) 90 degrees to take the shot into the sun. My theory lately is that it seems more exciting taking shots INTO the sun, and a small aperture creates a nice starburst to boot (I did need to remove a few flares in post).

Yep, almost springtime here. They say it's been slightly cooler than normal in the desert, but it'll hit with a vengeance.... 100-110 F every day

Yes, shooting into the sun can create some interesting effects if you have a lens that is fairly well behaved with regard to flare.  I often use the Fuji 16 f/2.8 can behave reasonably well.  What were you using?

This one was taken with a Nikon 16-35mm f4.0. It's a fairly versatile lens, but it's sharpness is questionable. I try to shoot it between f8 and 11 (where it performs best). I found that you keep the sun more in the center of the scene that the flare is not as ridiculous. Anyway, I think I'll stick with shooting into the sun for a while, see what more I get ...
