This camera is getting a lot of praise for video, but I see that it is also pretty good at stills. The lack of a view finder is something I would battle with though, especially in our harsh daylight here.

Unlike other DSLR or mirrorless cameras,  Sigma fp is definitely not for the general use.   But it suits my shooting style quite well.  The lack of a viewfinder is not a big problem to me, although high- or low angle shooting is cumbersome.  As you suspected, you need to set the brightness of the LCD to the maximum or shade the screen with your hand or a hood even in the daylight in Tokyo in winter.
