Earth Mama's Day

Recommended Posts

We celebrated so-called Mother's Day by immersing ourselves in the mother of us all, the Earth. Our off-trail adventure amidst the incredible rock cliffs, trees, cacti, shrubs, lichens, and 100-mile vistas was awe-inspiring.

The scramble and rock climb up the chimney to the top of the mesa was a rebirth of sorts, and the stillness, solitude, and vastness a warm, engulfing blanket of majestic proportions.

Another great series - your walks into these areas that you prortray have certainly been productive.

No.7 is quite a special find with the tree clinging to the rock outcrop.

Thanks very much, Hugh!  The rewards make the strenuous effort far more than simply worthwhile.

There are many junipers that cling to the rock, or grow in a very small patch of dirt inside them.
