A pictorial interpretation of the sky taken this afternoon.

 

I observed the Solar Halo almost every day this last week. It must be quite common and easy to see.

Look up under a veiled sky: it might be there!

My first association was a Perry Rhodan theme - the 3 parallel contrails, a crossing intercepter, the expanding nuke halo, the poisonous yellow tone in the lower clouds. Someone left the scene in something big - see the thick contrail on the left.

 

Sheer SciFi quality! Like it very much, it let's the brain run wild.

 

There were a few occaions this year where we had halos and I now know what i missed not trying some shots.

Sure there'll be more occasions to get it. Between the end of April and the beginning of may I observed the solar halo almost every day. You'll have your chance!
