A Cup of Tea for the New Year

Recommended Posts

Wednesday February 22, 2012 marks Losar, the Tibetan New Year, at least for the Karma Kagyu lineage and the Tsurphu calendar. This year the Chinese and the Tibetan Gelugpa (Dalai Lama) lineage celebrated the Tibetan New Year a month apart, last month. These two Tibetan calendars disagree every once in a while. Losar is always the day after the day of the New Moon, although the month can be anywhere from January to March.

Anyway, here is an offering of a cup of tea for the New Year.

Very nice colors and detail.

The pattern on the background creates a unusual bokeh .

fore and background are consistent with each other, which further makes the picture work for me.

I do like the way the pattern on the subject vibrates and amplifies the subdued background. Enjoy your tea and your new year.
