I came down at night and put on the patio light and found this skunk. I had to think fast and grab whatever cameras were around before he bolted. I had to shoot through a dirty window using only the dim patio light. What frusstration. It is the first skunk I have ever sen here. This is not a great photo but it is a special one to me.

This is not a great photo but it is a special one to me.
Caryl

With the blurred profile of the Skunk and white stripe against the grass in the background, poor light+high contrast I think you've almost turned it into (Skunk) art Caryl :)

Similar situation to Caryl's. Until today I had never seen a Red Fox in the wild when I had a camera with me. This shot was taken at Deerwood Arboretum and I was sitting under the canopy cooling off after walking around the area. I’m not sure who was the more surprised when he walked around the corner, me or him, but we both just watched each other for a minute or two. As soon as I started raising my camera up he was gone though! I got this shot as he was runnning away.

June has been mostly wet, windy and cold around here - according to the meteorologists the worst in 20 years. This afternoon was calm and I had some sun in my garden - along with these yellow flowers I finally got a sense of summer.

Thanks, Caryl. I've had that lens since October and it has been used a lot. It gets heavy pretty quickly but does a very good job and I'm quite pleased with it.

Good luck with your skunk! I've never seen one either and don't have much of an urge to do so ;)

We're "almost" there, so no reason to stop submitting pictures - yet.

Interesting that you have done IR all the time, by the way. I diversify myself too much to keep my contributions within a given field.

Bjørn,
I bought my D200IR (2010) but found I was not using it very often as I am lazy and hated carrying an extra camera/equipment around. I used this challenge to force me to use the camera weekly. It has worked and been very rewarding for me but also hard to keep up.

I have recently been pondering how many people would have managed to complete Joe's original 365 challenge idea.... My guess only Fon's and Mrs P.

Cheers

edit: I forgot to mention your participation in the challenge has been very inspirational.

A 365 day consecutive challenge is virtually impossible to complete. Not because there will be a lack of pictures, but even I don't shoot every day although I do work with images and processing tasks every day (and night) of the week. So dips and gaps are to be expected. A team can deliver but few single individuals are up to such a daunting task. We want a life beside the photography.

If I had nothing else to do in terms of commitments, perhaps, but doubting. All the "365 day challenges" I've seen have been boring and poor in quality. We aren't *that* brilliant when it comes to inspirational quality footage at too high frequency of occurrence. Once a week suits me much better. I've dedicated Fridays to acquiring the shot for weekly challenge and try to keep to that as far as possible.

Although I have a D800 & a D700, I still like to shoot on occasion with my D200 with its CCD sensor.

It's the Gare du Palais in Quebec City (bus and train station). It's a 100 year old building, the architecture is quite something.

I was tricked into shooting a wedding yesterday. As it was for free, I had no qualms about drinking well. It looked like one young man was already working on his approach with the ladies as his wing man looks on. Existing light at 5000 iso, f6.3, 1/320, +0.67.
