I'm sure this will be a smash hit with our members in the UK and surrounds. Hopefully we will see more European workshops take shape with the members. I know I need to get out of here! :)

At this point in time it is safe to say the workshop will be a reality. A complete "sell-out" in 24 hours is great .... Now, who volunteers as a local organiser for another UK-based workshop?

I'll put up an official announcement calling for registration later, as soon as Damian (black_bird_blue) has worked out the details and prices. The necessary details for payment will be specified as well at that time.

In order to ensure you have a reservation, you can pre-register directly by PM to me now and I'll make sure there is a slot open for you. Places will be allocated on a strictly first-come, first-served basis when payment is received. However, have your place confirmed before making a payment, please.

Not any specific topic unless there is a demand for that amongst the participants. We will focus (!) on the process of making images, that is going from from stages of 'why' over 'where' and 'when' to end up with 'how'. You could say it's about better understanding of yourself as a photographer and learning to observe in visual terms. In practice we'll work in small groups solving challenges and discussing the outcomes. Lots of time allocated for critique of pictures as well.

Questions of equipment and techniques for shooting are allowed too - in case anyone wondered. But the workshops are not gear-centric.

Cool. A workshop about the why and what, the how becoming secondary in the proper sense. I can only confirm my interest.

Well, if I hadn´t sign on for the first NG workshop already, this would have been a "no-brainer" !

Down to 6 free spots at present.

Do note that pre-registrating is free of obligations, since payment will determine who ultimately participates. Excess pre-registrations will just be moved to a holding list in order to fill any vacancies after first round of payments is completed (details on pricing will follow shortly in a few days, so stay tuned),

Idiom. Always difficult to catch for us non-English.

Yes 6 places are available. They won't, eventually, be *free*.

Free is completely idiomatically correct in the context. Perhaps Norwegian English is closer to the real thing than is South African English. After all, many of us (self included) have Norwegian ancestry.

Thanks, Anthony. I'm feeling free already ...

We're now down to 5 non-reserved place (4 if Mike G stands by his earlier post).

At present, 3 spots to go.

It is kind of interesting for a UK workshop that a significant number of non-UK members have pre-registered.

Most exotic experience closest to my place (Lille), that's why. And around Birmingham, they speak in a way that I do not understand, making the experience all the more exotic.

Aha. Good points, Airy.

Strangely, I found France 'exotic' by the same criteria ....

However, it is important to stress that improving one's photography does not correlate in any way with the geographic location. In fact, exploring your local neighhbourhood is usually the better approach (with a workshop or two thrown into the mix).
