I use Helix regularly as a resource for photo equipment. As a film and classic camera user I am not able to gauge their sales and service for the big ticket new stuff but their sales staff is usually quite kind and informed, their sales floor well stocked and items where comparisons are a great advantage (bags, lighting) they keep displays out to let you decide.
They did a buying spree of smaller local shops and then phased them out, whether that was to weed out competition or just getting caught by the market I don't know but, the main store on Racine has been shrinking its space for years and it seemed like a subtle management attitude change may be evident in retailing approach.
But they are a valuable resource for film/developing, rental service and retail outlet.
The used goods selection tho thinned considerably of late is still fairly nice for a big store and I keep an eye on their ever changing selection.

Have shopped here many times.  Large selection and inventory.  Don't know anything  about their online workings, but the staff are generally knowledgeable and helpful.
