This pair of trumpeter swans was taking a nap on the ice this morning. I was intrigued by their one legged stance and symmetry of poses. I am not sure why they didn't fall over, but they stayed in that position for about 10 minutes. I slowly moved around to get different angles on them.

D4 600VR f/11 1/2500s ISO 640 Tripod

Made me chuckle.

I think there would be a bit more red in the frame, Akira... :-)

Birds rest on one leg - pull up the other to keep it warm, thereby saving energy as well as having a body that is more prepared for flight if the occasion arises. The would swap feet when needed
