The great thing about this image is that it is a silhouette but a few strands of hair have regular lighting.

The sublime expression on the face of this Loon and the encircling band of shining droplets is beautiful in its simplicity in this photograph by Randy Stout (Foveola).

What a wonderful collection of images for this week! There are many worthy of winning a POTW, but my choice has to go to Randy Stout's Loon nominated by Ann. An extraordinarily difficult shot, but executed with perfect timing, focus and composition.
