Travel Balloons over Cappadocia (Turkey) Yesterday, 01:33 by Pa
My wife and I returned today from an 18-day excursion to Turkey. The trip concentrated on wildflowers and antiquities. On our last day, Sunday, April 20, we had scheduled a hot-air ballon ride in Cappadocia. The day before the wind was so bad that all flights were canceled. But we were rewarded by near ideal conditions.   Here are a couple of images (click for full 2048-pixel resolution).... Read full topic and 17 replies
Travel Washington Coast 07 Apr 2014 by bannerman
Two long-exposure experiments during a recent trip to the Long Beach, WA area.   Cape Disappointment Lighthouse   Ocean abstract   Not a long exposure, but I liked the symmetry of the church windows on a grey, coastal morning.     Comments and critique welcome. Thanks!   Read full topic and 5 replies
Travel Mammoth Cave 04 Apr 2014 by DaveO
A while ago I asked about a lens with VR to take to Mammoth Cave, Ky.  I ended up buying the Nikon 16-85mm VR lens.  I was considering a 11-16mm f/2.8, but would probably not have gotten much use out of it otherwise.    Here are a few pictures in the cave.     If I do any more, I'll have to reduce the file size as these are actually over the 1... Travel A Brief Tour of Vietnam 31 Mar 2014 by Mongo
The first thing you notice is that it is BUSY place with a large population in constant movement.        with enterprising people going about making a living for the day in a very competitive environment.       Even on the Mekong River where many make their homes       and go on with their tasks of daily living with the river as a pr... Travel Sun to Sun... 4,200 miles on my bike 26 Mar 2014 by Rags
Well... I've been a biker since '68... The adrenaline can be addictive and I love it. I like photography too; so this trip seems to satisfy both obsessions.   In 2009, I went back n forth cross country at 70 years old on my R1150RS. It was a great trip and I shot the Daytona 200 and some racing dogs. Made it from San Diego Ca to Jacksonville Beach in 56 hours - it was great...   It wa... Read full topic and 15 replies
Travel Ballooning in New Zealand 16 Mar 2014 by Mongo
Mongo and friends he was travelling with went ballooning recently in NZ. Mongo was allowed to go on the ride provided Mrs Mongo kept him muzzled and leashed.      We went up in the best hands. Michael is the NZ national champion, holder of a number of international records and later this year will try for the national NZ height record of over 35,000 feet. He is a really nice guy... Travel USA 2013: August 10th: Arches NP, the Devil's Garden 31 Jan 2014 by olivier
We made a long a wonderful trip to the Western US last summer, cruising through Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Idaho and Wyoming in a humongous motorhome. I'll post a few of the pictures in this thread. My wife fell in love with the V1 and monopolized it most of the time, so I had to make do with the D700, so good but so heavy...   It all started in Paris - Charles de Gaulle, on August 1st.  ... Travel Travel advice for Utah and surroundings, beginning of March 21 Jan 2014 by simsurace
In the beginning of March I will be in Salt Lake City and on this occasion I would like to spend approx. five days to travel around the state. In order to get the most out of it, I would ask for advice on what is recommended.   The goal is to not spend too much time driving around and chasing every single spot, but instead focus on two or three key locations and explore them by hiking....
